You Lead, I'll Follow ...
Raven is the secretive, brooding leader of S.T.A.N.D. He carries the memories of a painful, dark past, and he seems to hold himself well apart from those around him. No matter how much anyone cares about him, Raven seems unable to return those feelings. He is quiet and soft-spoken, and, yet, you get the sense that his determination and strength know no boundaries. He and Serge are bound together by the events of Raven's past, which led to Serge's existence. Serge comes after Raven, in part, seeking answers to those questions ... seeking justification of his own existence ... seeking the purpose of his own life. He needn't have bothered, however. Raven is not a man given to sharing information about himself or the past, and, he offers Serge nothing but the cryptic reminder: "You are loved." Is this Raven's way of telling Serge the past doesn't matter, and that he makes his own destiny? Or, is it just Raven being ... well, "Raven". Eh ... who knows? I don't think Serge ever figures it out, and I darn sure didn't, either.
In spite of all his faults, Raven was, hands-down, my favorite Virus character. What can I say? I love the brooding, silent type. *nervous laugh*
