If you meet the Buddha, kill the Buddha ...
He's cranky ... he's pretty ... he carries a gun and a paper fan. Yep ... Genjyo Sanzo is definitely not your average, run-of-the-mill monk. In fact, he's not even remotely religious, and this chain-smoking, hard-drinking pretty boy hero believes only in himself and, maybe, those closest to him. After witnessing the murder of his beloved master, Sanzo struggles to free himself of any attachments to this world. He doesn't want to care about anyone else, ever again, and he doesn't want anyone to care about him. He does a good job of pretending, and his surly, pissy attitude serves as a pretty good front to keep the world at bay. But, inside, he does care ... although it might be a bit hard to tell when he's swatting those closest to him with his paper fan for idiots, or uttering such timeless lines as "Do you want to die?" and "I'll kill you." Well, hey ... he's a man of few words, but he makes the ones he does say count.
