Excuse me, Miss ... Would you bear my child?
Ah, Miroku ... At first glance, he seems to be nothing more than your typical, anime-style, lecherous monk. But, if you dismiss him so lightly, you sell this character far, far short. Yes, he does ask nearly every woman he meets "the question" ... but, he does have a good reason. When you have a cursed void in your hand, threatening to swallow you up, and you need to continue the blood line to break the curse ... well, you can't exactly be too picky about potential partners, can you? At least, that's the way Miroku seems to see it. It's not about love ... it's about duty and honor, after all. Like so many of us, Miroku carries the seed of his own destruction with him ... but, unlike most of us, he realizes it. He knows the void in his hand will, eventually, swallow him up. And yet, he still faces the uncertainty of his future and carries this burden with a strength and courage that ... well .. that make you believe there is something noble about humanity, after all. For all of this ... courage, loyalty, strength of character and will ... all wrapped up in one adorable package, Miroku holds a special place in this fangirl's heart. Let's just say ... if he asked me "the" question ... well, I might not turn him down ... I'd definitely have to give it some serious thought.
