Inu Yasha is the kind of character that seems simple at first ... but, the more you watch his story, the more you realize that he is anything but simple. The title character in Rumiko Takahashi's beautiful epic, Inu Yasha awakes after being sealed to a tree for fifty years to find that, although the world has hardly changed in some ways, a good chunk of it has passed him by. He's a man (or should I say half-man) with a simple plan --- find the Shikon no Tama shards and become a full-fledged demon. A simple plan, until he starts to pick up a small entourage, starting with Kagome, who awoke him from his long sleep and who is the reincarnation of the woman he loved --- the priestess who sealed him away half a century before. As he searches for the Shikon Jewel with his motley posse, it seems as if Inu Yasha realizes life isn't always as simple as you believe it to be ... your actions always cause some sort of reaction ... and, perhaps, there is something more important in life than becoming a full-fledged demon. He tries hard to hide it behind his sour personality and smart-aleck attitude, but Inu Yasha is a guy who cares. He's the kind of guy who's willing to go that extra ten miles to protect the things that are important to him, even if he'd never admit it. Plus, he does have those cute, little doggie ears, too -- that never hurts!
