Card Captor Sakura - The Boys
Home/Change Series
Different Kinds of Love ...
What would anime be without the "Bishie Factor"? And, Clamp more than delivers on that front, presenting us with a wonderful variety of bishie loveliness for our (fangirl) entertainment.
But, if you think these guys are nothing more than "pretty faces", you would have another "think" coming. Each of these characters touches Sakura's life in a very profound way, and each presents her with a different aspect of love with which she has to come to terms.
Toya is Sakura's older brother, and, really, he could easily win the "Best Big Brother Ever" award, if there was such a thing. He is supportive and protective to a fault, and he has this niggling habit of always showing up whenever Sakura has to participate in a card capture. It seems like a huge string of coincidences, until you hear him utter the fateful line: "There is no such thing as coincidence in this world." It seems a very cryptic statement, but it is enough to confirm what the viewers have suspected all along -- he has been by Sakura's side the whole time, waiting in the wings to protect her, if need be.
Yukito is Toya's best friend, and the person Sakura believes she loves most in this world. He is kind, sensitive, and caring, and like all good bishies, he harbors a very dark secret. Considering the age difference between them, perhaps it is silly to think a teenage boy could truly love a little girl who is in the fourth grade. But, Yuki never acts that way. He is sensitive to Sakura's feelings and always treats her with kindness. In his own way, he does love her very much, even though his heart belongs to someone else.
Shaoran Li comes to Tokyo determined to gather the Clow Cards, himself. It is his duty and a matter of family honor, and he immediately becomes Sakura's bitter rival -- both in their quest for the cards and in love. As the show progresses, though, you can see how Li and Sakura's relationship moves from rivalry ... to friendship ... and, finally, to love.
