Glory Wall

   Home/Change Series

A little history on this section's name:

When I was a kid, my parents used to embarrass the heck out of me by displaying any type of school or contest award I won. It was embarrassing and also OK, too. I mean, in a time when I had very strained/unusual relationships with my parents, it was still good to look at that and realize they cared about me and were proud of me. Anyhow, I always jokingly called that my "glory wall" -- very tongue-in-cheek, because, as we all know, things you hang on a wall matter a lot less in life than who and what you are inside your own skin. At any rate, I decided to borrow from my childhood memories and own strange sense of humor in the hopes of finding a fun and funny name for this little gallery section.

The presence of an "awards" section in my gallery really surprises the heck out of me. When I first started collecting, I would visit galleries that had awards sections. I would ooh and aah over the cels displayed there and wish that, one day, my gallery would manage to grow up enough that it, too, could have an awards section. Even so, that seemed like such a pipe dream to me. And yet, here it is: my very own awards section.

In many ways, it seems quite unreal, as if, maybe, I'm imagining the whole thing. I love all of my cels, but I've never expected others to feel the same way about them. I've always thought of them as just that: a bunch of things I adore, but that would not necessarily appeal to anyone else.

No matter how surreal it feels, the presence of this section is a bit of a dream come true. A dream I have kept hidden away deep inside myself. A dream I never admitted to anyone else. A dream I never even admitted to myself. Thank you so much to everyone who voted for these entries. You are the ones who made my hidden dream come true. *hugs*
