Character: "Traffic Cop" Yue
From ep. 65: "Sakura and the Vanishing Power"
Episode Information: After taking Toya's power, Yue stands next to the bed, looking down at an unconscious Toya. He hears a noise at the door and turns around, this angry, protective glare on his face, and aims a power blast in that direction. Now that Yue is at full strength again, his blast rocks the room and is powerful enough to blast open the door. Much to his dismay, Yue finds a tearful Sakura on the receiving end of his attack. Unbeknownst to him, she was listening at the door and now knows he had to take Toya's power because her magic wasn't strong enough to sustain him.
Fangirl Ranting: I can not believe this cel is in my gallery. Can. Not. Freaking. Believe. It. I'm just pinching myself, over and over again, to make sure this is real and not a dream. But, if it is a dream -- well, I don't want to wake up to reality.
I loved this cel for so long in Uende's gallery. We giggled, time and time again, over IM about how Yue looked like a school crossing guard or a policeman directing traffic, and, so, this cel became dubbed "Traffic Cop Yue". And, honestly, I think it is one of the most gorgeous Yue cels out there. Period. Especially since it comes from a scene I love so very much.
So, when Uende decided to sell off many of her cels, I hoped against hope that I could get a chance at this one. Unfortunately, I wasn't fast enough, as someone had already asked for and put this cel on hold. It is probably an understatement to say that I was crushed, but, all the same, I vowed to keep an eye out for this one and hoped that it would end up in a gallery where I could at least visit it. Then, a couple of weeks after learning I had missed out on this one, Uende contacted me to say that the original sale had fallen through, and to ask if I wanted to give Traffic Cop Yue a new home. And, man oh man -- did I ever! So, now, here he is -- home to stay, I hope.
There is so much I adore about this one. This moment in episode 65 is powerful and moving. The expression on Yue's face is amazing -- fierce and angry, as if he is intent on protecting Toya, who just gave up so much so that he could live. And, the pose ... the pose just makes me want to cry happy fangirl tears. I can't say for sure, as you never know what might happen in the future, but I could easily see this one as being the last Yue cel I would ever need to add to this collection.
