Gecko Blue Cels, ver. haiku samurai: A bunch of random, painted plastic bits unified by bishounen goodness.
For now, all my cels live here, but you can also visit my collection (and my fanfiction) on my main website: THE ZONE

I rather hesitate to write any sort of summary or description for Rurouni Kenshin. It is one of those amazing, beautiful shows that, somehow, takes on a life of its own over time. But ... in the interest of consistency ... I will give this my best shot.
In a nutshell, Rurouni Kenshin tells the story of a wandering samurai. When we first meet the title character, Kenshin Himura, it is hard to believe that this mild-mannered, often goofy, small guy is the Hitokiri Battousai -- the most feared assassin from the Bakumatsu. Tortured by the things he has done, Kenshin has decided to leave his assassin ways behind him. He has vowed never to kill again, and he wanders Japan, offering his protection to anyone who might need it.
Kenshin might be done with his life as a swordsman, but it often seems that the sword is not ready to let him go just yet. Kenshin doesn't hesitate to throw himself into any emergency, and it seems like trouble sort of follows him around. And there's always his troubling past -- lurking around every dark corner, threatening to swallow up both Kenshin and the life he has begun to build for himself. Along the way, Kenshin manages to gather a rather motley crew of friends. They accept him as the man he is now, not as the Hitokiri Battousai. And they seem to want to protect Kenshin as much as he wants to protect them -- even if that means protecting him from the darker impulses that lurk within his soul.
Without a doubt, Rurouni Kenshin is an action-packed show with gorgeous artwork and colorful character designs. But this show is so much more than that. It is about friendship and courage. It is about love and the deeds that bind us all together in this crazy game called life. It is about regret and longing and friendship. And, it's about that little spark inside of all of us -- the one that tells us we can change our lives, if we really want it badly enough.
Although I will never have a huge collection from this show, Rurouni Kenshin will always hold a special place in my heart. I still remember the first time I watched it and how I fell instantly in love with it. It is the first show my hubby chose to watch with me, and it is one of the first animes I ever bought on DVD. I still remember the giddy wait for each new volume to come out and the joy at, finally, being able to continue the story that had left me hanging. I must have watched this show a dozen times or more since that first time … and I have to say that I love it just as much now as I did way back then.
**NOTE: Many of the cels in this gallery appear as "opening cels" according to the RS gallery info provided with them. Most of the time, this information is incorrect. The false listings are caused by a glitch within RS itself; I have gone through the gallery and corrected the information several times ... only to have it reappear. Thus, I have given up on trying to fix it. Instead, I have separately noted, within the individual cel descriptions, any cel that truly is an opening cel. **
News & Updates
|8/10/2014||A one-cel update today! I added a lovely cel of Aya-chan from the 1st WK Ending. Also changed out my layout a few days ago. I wanted a new Saiyuki layout, using more sketch art, as well as something that felt kind of "summery". Aaaaand, it seems my gallery will probably go back into "hibernation mode" now. Ha, ha! :D|
|7/18/2014||Unbelievably, it's been OVER A YEAR (!!) since I last updated my gallery. I'm still alive, but life has been busy. And I don't collect as much as I used to. Finally got around to scanning some things I've had for a while, so there are new additions in Weiss Kreuz: OVA, Weiss Kreuz: Group/Others, Orphen: Others, Saiyuki Reload: The Boyz, Saiyuki: The Openings, and Ze Fan Art: Crystal.|
